Let's Play Catch (Up)

Uh-oh, it's getting to be busier this semester which means it is harder for Lou Lou and me to keep up with the blogging.

The last show was mostly about the Emmys--I made the prediction that host Neil Patrick Harris would incorporate Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog in the middle of the awards show and I was totally right and, as NPH's How I Met Your Mother character would say, it was LEGEND-wait for it-DARY. I think I was most shocked by Kristin Chenoweth's win for best supporting actress in a comedy, the first award given away that night, but I think the general consensus is that the biggest upset was when Tina Fey DIDN'T win for best actress in a comedy. The award instead went to Toni Collette for United States of Tara (on Showtime). Check out the full list of Primetime Emmy winners here.

This Monday was a big day for fall premieres:
-Dancing With the Stars (I'm cheering for Donny Osmond... even though I don't typically watch the show, but I might watch just to see Aaron Carter, Melissa Joan Hart, and Kelly Osbourne dance... or attempt to? I know Donny will kick butt in the competish. P.S.--If you watch the Aaron Carter video, I would like to point out that his partner Karina Smirnoff is wearing a dead duck as a top and pants made out of the leftover material from her Emmy performance costume)
-Big Bang Theory (The guys come back from the arctic expedition and Penny and Leonard hook up! OMG!)
-How I Met Your Mother (I also predicted on our show that Robin and Barney would start dating and I was... sort of right. They hooked up secretly over the summer but when Lily found out she made them "define the relationship" so they lied and said they were bf/gf. But were they lying?... Also, Ted started his first day as a college professor. He went to the wrong classroom and started teaching to the wrong students.)
-House and Heroes also premiered but I haven't watched Heroes since the second season and I only watch House occasionally but FUN FACTS: Hugh Laurie played a detective in Spice World (the HIT movie) and Jesse Spencer (who is back on the team) was one of the love interests for Mary-Kate or Ashley Olsen in Winning London!

Upcoming premieres this week:

Wednesday: Cougartown!
Thursday: Grey's Anatomy
Friday: (JOELLEN'S HAPPIEST DAY) Ghost Whisperer AND Medium BOTH on CBS (NBC dropped Medium after last season but thankfully CBS picked it up so Allison doesn't lose her psychic abilities after she gets her brain tumor removed). I love ghosties.
Saturday: Saturday Night Live hosted by Megan Fox and musical guest U2 (I just saw Jennifer's Body and I loved it. But I love weird movies that involve paranormal things so maybe that's just me. The critics for the most part did not agree with my review.)

Hmmm... maybe next week's show will have a paranormal theme: review of Medium and Ghost Whisperer, Liza Minnelli's role on last Sunday's episode of Drop Dead Diva, and, of course, in-depth discussion of TRUE BLOOD?
I'll have to pitch this to Lou Lou.

Until next week,
Thank you for being a friend!

XOXO,
Joellen

VMAs...Woot!

Hey All!

I'll take over this weeks post while Linda is a responsible adult and works...meanwhile I'm watching the VMAs instead of doing my homework...Yay Senior Year! ;)

On the subject of Tool Academy, Linda is quite right that it is "Toolier than ever." This season features not only men as Tools, but their girlfriends are quite "tooley" themselves. Ladies, if I can use that term accurately, it is not ok to use violence just because you chose to date one of the 15 most Tool-like men in the country. My favorite tool is "Giant Tool" who I would like to refer to as "Human Growth Hormone Tool" (Allegedly, of course). His official name is "Giant Tool." JoEllen's favorite tool is literally named "Special tool."

We are both anti Ellen being the new judge on American Idol to replace Paula. First of all, you can't recreate that kind of crazy. Second of all, Ellen has no claim in the music industry whatsoever. We've elected that Liza Minelli be the judge instead, she comes with the music credentials AND the crazy.

Drop Dead Diva
has premiered on Lifetime!
Monk is in its final season!
Psych has started again!

And here's my favorite subject of all time! Tonight is the VMAs!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Russell Brand is back as host (despite a poor showing last year), and the awards are rightfully back in NYC!
Some of the performers include Jay Z, Beyonce, Green Day, Pink, Muse, Lady Gaga (with pants, maybe?), and Taylor Swift.
Here are some of our VMA Predictions

Technical Difficulties, Crime, and VMA predictions

Hey y'all. We might've stumbled a little in the beginning of the show today due to some technical difficulties (stupid headphone delay) but we hope you enjoyed the show!

In case you missed it, here's what we discussed today:
-Tool Academy 2: Tool-ier than ever.
-Ellen DeGeneres an American Idol Judge?
-Drop Dead Diva: Smart, quirky, and... on Lifetime.
-Monk: The final season (Will he solve Trudy's murder?)
-Psych: Follows Monk on USA. Predecessor to the Mentalist, but funny. And not fake. If it was fake, it would basically be the same thing as the Mentalist.
-VMA Predictions (email us at boobtubekrui@gmail.com if you want to debate!)

I'll add more details about these (including some things not mentioned on air) and links later, but I gotta go to work so...

Thank you for being a friend.

(Almost) Labor Day Show!

Hey all!

Linda (aka Joellen Inhale) and I (Olivia, aka Lou Lou) had a great time during our second show!

Here's a quick recap of all the show's happenings if you were unfortunate enough not to be able to check it out. ;)

First, we're predicting that Glee will be the greatest break-out hit of the Fall. It combines High School Musical with a more complicated set of characters. For example, the lead female character has gay parents who pushed her to be a performer her entire life. The Glee club is coached by Will Scheuster (played by Matthew Morrison) who we find to be quite attractive. Click here to watch the entire pilot episode which is not to be missed! The show is on Wednesday nights on Fox.

Another show poised for greatness this season is Community staring The Soup's Joel McHale as a lawyer who got his degree discredited and needs to go back to school. The show also features Chevy Chase as an older student who has lots of wisdom to share with the other students (and also an element of creepy old man...ness to share with his classmates.) In case you have been under a rock and haven't seen a preview, click here! The show will premiere on NBC on the 17th after The Office.

Next on the agenda was ABC Family's Greek. There was a lot of drama during this third season opener. This was also the first episode I had ever watched, and I can already tell that I'm obsessed! I won't go in to the intricacies of the episode, but I will mention a couple of the highlights.
-Cappie appears to reject Casey after she wants to get backc together with him after breaking with Max.
-Later we learn that Cappie wanted to get with Casey but was stopped by Evan.
-Rebecca (the Senator's daughter) made out with Ashley's boyfriend Fisher!

There is some tension this season on Top Chef because some of the chefs have a lot of professional experience and education while other chefs are self-taught. Some of the challenges seem unfair for those who are self-taught because they on the type of thing one would learn in culinary school. However, who knows, maybe there'll be an upset and one of the "novices" will take the whole competition!

Lastly, there are rumors circulating that Bravo is working on a Top Chef Junior featuring "Chefs" between 13-16. There isn't a lot of information available on this potential show though, so keep your eyes peeled, and we will too! Teamwork is the name of the game, people.

Be sure to turn in next Sunday when we talk about Drop Dead Diva!

I'm outty!
~Lou Lou

Bret at the Tonys, Megan [Won't Get A] Millionaire, and Real Housewives

Back from our first Boob Tube show! Olivia and I had tons of fun chatting about some of our favorite summer reality show moments.

In case you missed it, here's a quick recap:
-Bret Michaels was almost "decapitated" at the Tony Awards after lip synching "Nothin' But A Good Time." After the fall, Michaels said, "All I remember is Shrek and the donkey helping me up and Liza [Minnelli] giving me a towel". Can you imagine Liza and Shrek appearing before you after being knocked unconscious? Awesome.
-"Megan Wants A Millionaire" was canceled after only 3 episodes because contestant Ryan Jenkins allegedly murdered his ex-wife, former Playboy model Jasmine Fiore, on August 15 before fleeing to Canada. He was found dead in his hotel room on August 23. VH1 has also cancelled "I Love Money 3" because Jenkins was also a contestant on the show. Sadly, we are never going to see the episode in which Sex Toy Dave gets busted for having been on Bravo's "Millionaire Matchmaker" TWICE. But isn't that a little hypocritical, Megan? You were on "Rock of Love" AND "I Love Money."
-Since Paula Abdul has quit "American Idol," guest judges for next season reportedly include Kelly Clarkson (duh), Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham (does this mean David will be in the audience? Drool...), and Kristin Chenoweth (*girl crush alert!*).
-A few celebs will make guest appearances on "Gossip Girl" next season: Tyra Banks will play Ursula Nyquist, an actress Serena must "control" and Hilary Duff will play a movie star who is also Vanessa's roomie. Reports are also coming in that Chuck will kiss a guy. Does this mean the TV series will finally be more like the books?
-NYC Prep, the "real" Gossip Girl, was interesting though possibly short-lived. Even though these kids are privileged and seemed to act more mature, it is refreshing to see their normal teenage awkwardness and how they actually did stuff other than drink and party all the time (though they did some of that too...). What was not refreshing: Jessie's crazy eyes. Reminds me of Ramona from Real Housewives of New York.
-Real Housewives:
-Olivia likes OC because they don't work but just hang out and have fun.
-I like NYC because they have jobs but still have fun. And I love Jill.
-We both like New Jersey because of Teresa's freak out during the season finale when she flips the table. I would probably flip a table because of Danielle too. Ugh.
-Neither of us like Atlanta because they argue too much and it's annoying.

Also, I said on the show that "Tool Academy 2" doesn't start for a few weeks. I was wrong. It starts tonight at 8 pm central on VH1!!! Unfortunately that is the same time "Drop Dead Diva" is on Lifetime. I hate having to choose between TV shows...

Coming up next week:
-Top Chef Masters
-Top Chef Las Vegas
-Glee
-Community
-Is TLC trying to be the Food Network?
-The final season of "Monk" :(
